Meet Dr. Atsushi Kamal Okuda, Professor of Political Systems at Keio University – a Japanese Muslim scientist, educator and a caller to Islam.
We often hear from those who are anti-religion the statement that science is all they need and that God and religion is all just a myth and not backed with proof.
Scientists like Dr. Okuda will beg to differ as he crossed the line of living a life without God in his life into a life where he can’t live with God’s guidance.
Before Islam, Dr. Okuda explained his life to be immoral and lacking knowledge of the real purpose of life. He said:
“Before Islam my life was barbaric. Very barbaric! Ignorant. I didn’t know the truth!”
He went on a journey seeking the truth, fighting a long academic battle with the various religions. Until he reached Islam and decided to study it properly.
During the sixth year of his college, he took an avid interest into the Islamic legislation. As he was walking past one day, he came across a research paper where his eyes scanned over an ayah, a verse from the Quran which changed his life forever.
The ayah was about how Allah created mankind from sand, clay and dust. One of the ayahs that talk about is in chapter 15, verse 26 where Allah says:
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
“And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud.”
As he continued his inquest into Islam, he decided to move to Aleppo, Syria to continue his studies and to even learn Arabic. His joy and relief of becoming a Muslim was a blessing like no other in his life. He exclaimed:
“At that moment! I converted to Islam. I believe that this is the greatest gift from Allah in my life!”.
Today, Dr. Okuda is an inspiration. He is a role model for not just the Japanese Muslims but for people worldwide as what needs to be done after finding the truth for oneself. He works hard to share the gift of Islam with others.
He works passionately with his circle of friends and companions in Japan to spread the message of Islam in Japan in order to as he asserts – to save the nation of Japan from a life without Allah.
